When i was 18 years old, fresh out of high school, I moved from Exeter NH to the Back Bay Fens area of Boston with Doug & Brian Ladd, 2 of my best friends. Burbank St to be exact. Very Nice neighborhood. We were completely ignorant and unaware of the nightlife in Boston, so for the first month or so that we lived there, so at night we would roam the streets. Mass Ave, Newbury St, Landsdowne st... And Boylston St. We would joke & sneak mixed drinks in Soda bottles, and even our first 2 semesters of college were at "Mass Comm" (now Ai) on Boylston St. I'll never forget the first time i met GURU (R.I.P.), we played pool at the street team office, then i went to class at Mass Comm on Boylston with a Henny & Coke in a styrofoam cup and thought i was badass. Anyways... That mile or so on Boylston between Hemminway & Harrison WAS MY LIFE. For 5 years. MY BACKYARD & PLAYGROUND. Clubs, Restaurants, House Parties, Fights, Cops, Celebrations, Mournings. I know those blocks probably more than i know anywhere in the world. Ironic enough being that i moved from EXETER NH to Boston... Today a few FEET AWAY from Exeter St and Boylston in Boston, it turned into HELL. Literally. Innocent Kids, Adults, & Seniors were ripped from their day at the marathon and pulled into HELL ON EARTH. I'm not religious at this point in life but i believe in ENERGY. Those people did not deserve that. All i can do is send positive energy their way, and to those 3 unlucky that passed and dozens that will be forever physically and mentally altered by this... May the person that did this suffer for a million years. 

And i am not stupid, nor unaware of the craziness that goes on every day around the globe. i frequent sites like liveleak.com and kaotic.com and see how cruel the world is... but obviously when it hits your old backyard, it its a completely different emotion. I know our government does ALOT of wack shit and karma goes around. Still, nothing makes this right and ever will. Cowards attack innocents.

New York, NY (February 19, 2013) – Cinematic Music Group's Joey Bada$$ and his New York City-based rap crew Pro Era embark on the Beast Coastal Tour this spring, joined by DJ Statik Selektah and Brooklyn's own Beast Coast brothers Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers. The 20+ North American tour kicks off in Portland on 3/21 and will wrap in NYC at the Gramercy Theatre on 4/20, a concert in honor of late Pro Era co-founder Capital STEEZ.

Joey Bada$$ and his crew of fellow teenage visionaries CJ Fly, Kirk Knight, Nyck Caution, Dessy Hinds and others will be performing music from Joey’s debut mixtape 1999, Pro Era's most recent critically-acclaimed P.E.E.P. The aPROcalypse mixtape and “Unorthodox” the Green Label Sound collaboration from Joey Bada$$ and DJ Premier. Fans can download the track for free as well as watch a behind the scenes from the forthcoming music video produced by Creative Control's Coodie and Chike at www.greenlabelsound.com. The group will be doing in-stores along the way at select Ecko Unltd retail locations, meeting with fans and signing limited edition special tour merchandise.

Man, i'm truly heartbroken on this Christmas Eve. Late last night the world lost Pro-Era member Capital STEEZ at the young age of 19. For the last 3 days twitter, Facebook, & every hip hop outlet in the world has been praising their newest mixtape, #PEEP: The aPROcalypse. And just like that, we lose one of the most promising new voices in music. The picture above was taken by me a few months ago while we were in my crib recording "Like Water", which happens to be the first song on the new tape. This reminds me all too much of the loss of Kid Hood, who many only heard on Tribe's acclaimed & classic "Scenario" Remix 20 years ago. The Era has the closest resemblence to what Hood's Native Toungues affiliates represented ever since. I have been praising what these kids have been doing for not just NYC but for Hip Hop in general for a while now. My love & energy goes out to Joey, CJ, Shipes, & the entire Pro Era fam.

Listen to "Like Water" below... which will never be the same to me, especially with the scratch i layed down right before STEEZ's verse. Gone but not forgotten. His music will live forever...
